About this release
Granite 4.2 is a family of Apache 2.0 open-weight dense decoder-only reasoning models (3B, 8B, 30B) trained on ~15T tokens with native chain-of-thought, flexible thinking/low-effort modes, and 128K context (up to 512K extension on larger sizes). The 8B and 30B variants received additional agentic RL in real terminal, web-search, and code environments; all support tool calling and are optimized for self-hosted enterprise agentic workflows.
